How Many Days Has Trump Been In Office?

At the time of my writing this, we are just a few minutes over 74 days.

I can not put my finger on it and can't point out many specifics but, I have noticed that things are changing more rapidly than they had in the past few years.

What I see is what we already knew.

 After the Keystone pipeline is completed, there will not be thousands of jobs available at the pipeline. There will probably be less than one-hundred jobs at the pipeline which is probably a good thing because we want it to run clean and we don't want to have clean-up crews working to recover the flora and fauna that was damaged because of a leak. The Dakota pipeline is probably about the same but, this is America and we are going to try to answer every question and eliminate every potential problem any citizen can think of.

Healthcare is out of control and Trump's rapid repeal and replace got hit hard. I have been asking my friends about their healthcare plans and whether they are veterans or civilians, they shake their head and sigh. I believe that this started when President Clinton was in office and The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 was signed into law. I know a number of people that benefited from the act and their success is nothing but an inspiration but, in my experience I need to make another phone call to the doctor's office because everybody that schedules appointments is gone for the day by the time my appointment is finished. It's kind of creepy being the last person at the office but, I do turn the lights off even though nobody tells me to and it smells funny too, because everybody has left their dirty, styrofoam plate from lunch in the trash can.

Today, I heard rumors that the country's infrastructure may move into the spotlight. I know that you have all been anxious to hear more about that! The future of our infrastructure means the healthcare workers can get to work. It means that we have more roads to run our cars on. It means that we will have fancy, new gas stations and then too, we will all be able to use styrofoam plates because we will all have the opportunity to get take-out food more often. More cool buildings with parking lots for us to get our to-go orders that will make us fat so we'll be needing more nature trails so we can walk away those calories. You know that I say it's all connected.

Whether you were for Trump or against him during that nasty election, he is the individual that is the President of The United States. Based on my experience, my little business is seeing a lot of activity. So much activity that if it continues this way I will need help before the end of this year. I think that's a good thing. I will probably Tweet President Tump and tell him when my company outsources work to an American company.

5P THEORY IN ACTION

I feel as if I have going full speed since Thanksgiving.

I'm sure that this is nothing more than the year-end hustle that it appears everybody is caught up in so I stopped to take a breather.

When I was a child my mother worked as a wedding coordinator and I was allowed to quietly tag along. The one thing that I took away from that experience was, as long as the bride and groom show up the wedding will take place.

Mom always had a backup plan for everything. If the preacher fell ill, she had a notary on call. If the wedding dress got torn, she had a seamstress at the ready. If the cake shifted in transport, her staff could rework the cake so that it was beautifully presented to the guests.

I guess mom applied the 5P Theory to her job as a coordinator. Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

As a contractor that offers services, you are part of the plan. Amazon can help your business be discovered and Amazon can also handle payment processing. By using their services you can focus on doing what you do best, delivering great service and growing your business.

I am not going to tell you that contractors have not seen the downside of Amazon Home Services. First and foremost, Amazon is the middleman. As a contractor you need to have excellent communication skills to coordinate projects with your clients but, you probably know that. Amazon Home Service contractors must be certified, licensed, and insured. Remember the 5P theory!

From my perspective, I think it's fine that my IT guy is willing to shovel snow for $99 per hour. I'm okay with that because I just need the help. Amazon has already done the background check so I feel more at ease.

In this hurry up and hustle world that we live in, people are willing to outsource the work that they don't have time or the heart for. I would be willing to shovel my driveway except for the fact that it will take time away from my already overloaded schedule.

The Grandmother Test

When we were in the process of updating our web site we found information that we felt was both timely and important so decided to share it.

While seeking employment it is important for you to consider things from the employer's perspective.  It is not unusual for companies and schools to search for concerns that they have about potential employees or students.  I think the idea is best called, "The Grandmother Test".  Most employers are seeking information about drug and alcohol use.  (This is due to insurance requirements.)  Let's face it, even though we might decide to tie-one-on, none of us are stupid to the fact that our grandmother would probably rather not see any of us in that condition.

Employers, just like your grandmother, do not have the desire to see inappropriate photos, nor do they care to read about inappropriate behavior.  Most people decline this offer!

Social media allows for much to be said in very few words.  Employers can and will judge your communication skills by comments you post.  I set a standard for myself on this.  I've always believed that if I had the nerve to write it and send it, I needed to have nerve enough to claim it by putting my signature on it.  The Grandmother Test holds true again.  Simply remember, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."  

You can use the World Wide Web to your advantage but don't forget that everybody else can too.  There are plenty of sites that offer information about this subject but do your own research about yourself before the potential employer calls.  You can do that by searching for your name through any major search engine.  Seeing yourself the way your future employer will might just save you some embarrassment.

We're Concerned About Jobs

     We're concerned about jobs.  We've heard about the taxes, but without a job we cannot be taxed.  We can't even go to the mall and spend money on things that are taxed at the local level.  This whole situation is obviously a big mess.

     There are other things to be considered too.  What are we teaching the next generation?  As for myself, I see an angry younger generation that is trying to understand things that are way above my middle-age ability. Knowing that one of six children are receiving assistance for food provisions, it leaves me wondering how these children are handling this crisis that they experience every day.  With mom or dad not longer working this is added stress to the children too.    

     As adults, our coping skills include humor.  Wonder what the next generation thinks of our laughing about there being a lack of oxygen in Denver?  I'm fairly certain that a five year old child hasn't learned about altitude changes.  I keep hearing about light-hearted comments, but I'm not even sure how much my heart weighs!

     The next time the younger generation tells you that you're clueless, take a moment and think about it.  I agree that we need to pull ourselves up by the boot straps and hang in there through these tough time, but think about how the next generation interprets what they see and hear.

OK, folks.  I'll get step down from my little soap box.  When I heard teens talking earlier, it crossed my mind that they should be talking about cars and dances, not gas prices and political debates.
